Arcadia's Solar Potential

Arcadia, CA is situated at 34.1 degrees north latitude and 118.0 degrees west longitude. The region basks in an average of just over 5.5 kWhs of solar energy each square meter each day.

latitude-longitude The average solar panel array we install in Arcadia produces about 4,000 watts of solar power. That translates into approximately 17,000 watt hours of consumable electricity per day. For context, that covers the entire energy consumption for a typical family of three and could save you over $80/ month on your electric bills!

Rebates and Incentives in Arcadia

Southern California Edison (SCE) is committed to helping Arcadia residents Go Solar.  If you’re a homebuilder or general contractor with a new house or residential development under construction, then the New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) is your ticket to solar incentives.

The NSHP program— part of the statewide California SolarInitiative —provides financial incentives and other support for installing eligible solar generating systems on new residential buildings: single family, income-eligible and multi-family housing.

The goal of the NSHP—which is intended to encourage the construction of new, energy-efficient solar homes—is to place 400 MW of solar on 50 percent of new homes by the end of 2016.

Arcadia residents are well-advised to use a professional solar engineer to design their solar system. An optimally designed system will produce the most electricity, and SCE distributes rebates based on predicted energy production.

All residential solar customers in Arcadia using licensed solar contractors will receive an Expected Performance-Based Incentive (EPBI) incentive from SCE. This means you will actually receive a check for up to 30% of your entire solar cost. The exact EPBI Payment Amount is in part determined by the efficiency of your solar installation. California Solar Engineering will make absolutely sure that your system performs to its highest capability. “Engineering” is in our title for a reason!

California Solar Engineering works with SCE on a daily basis and we understand how to work with you to provide the detail-specific information needed to process your rebate applications. We also work closely with the City of Arcadia planning department to handle permit applications and inspection requests.

The Southern California Edison website offers several sources of information concerning solar incentives. For details on the NSHP and SCE’s electrical requirements, visit Go Solar, California or call (626) 744-6970.

In addition to these local Arcadia incentives, every solar installation in the country is eligible for a 30% Federal Tax Credit as of January 1, 2009. This 30% is based on your adjusted cost, after the SCE rebate and greatly reduces the total cost of solar.  A tax credit is not a deduction. It is a credit that is applied directly against what you may owe in taxes.
